Figma plugin
Sync a saved project into Figma variables and styles.
The plugin turns a saved project into Figma variables, text styles and effect styles. It runs inside your file, so it does not need Figma’s Variables REST API, which is limited to Enterprise plans.
What it creates
- Two collections: designlang Primitives and designlang Semantic. Semantic variables are real aliases of the primitives.
- Light and dark modes, when you pick a dark-mode snapshot. Figma’s free plan allows one mode per collection, and the plugin says so and skips dark.
- Text styles from type tokens and effect styles from shadows, named
designlang/.... - Re-syncing updates by name in place, with no duplicates.
Set up
- On your project’s Connect tab, create a context key.
- In Figma, choose Plugins, Development, Import plugin from manifest, and select
figma-plugin/manifest.jsonfrom the repository. - Run the plugin, paste the key and press Add project.
- Pick a snapshot and press Sync to Figma.
Keys on Pro can follow the latest snapshot and let you pick snapshots. Free keys are pinned to one. The key stays in your Figma install and is sent only to api.designlang.app.
The plugin is loaded from the repository today. It is not on the Figma Community yet.
